Canberra, the Seat of Power

I have never visited the new parliament house, or old parliament house for that matter, so on a recent trip to catch the wonderful From Botticelli to Van Gogh exhibition, we took the time to take a self-guided tour of the nation's seat of power.

Canberra's new Parliament House has the shiniest parquetry I have ever seen...

House of Reps
Green hues, perhaps, to offer a calming environment?

This was made with Artoon - the cartoon App from JixiPix - just to render the Senate as a cartoon image to match the jokers that work there...
Australian War Memorial in the rain
A strange place that displays memorabilia and objects from all the conflicts that successive Australian governments have got the public involved in. Some worthy, no doubt, many not so worthy.
The current displays concerning conflict in Afganistan remains untouched till the enquiry about possible war crimes is wrapped up...
