Singapore a mobile mad wireless society?

Am I getting old, or has Singapore gone mobile mad?  More so than Sydney?
It seems that everyone is clutching a smartphone in this country - I walk through the subway (MRT) interchanges behind people watching (Chinese?) soaps on their phones in the rush hour, boys playing games as they sail up the escalators and tables of people in cafes not looking at each other, but engrossed in whatever is on their screen. No one seems to look at each other any more other than to do the bare minimum when crossing the road.

You go into a fast food outlet like KFC and order not from a person but a screen.  The only time you actually encounter a human is when the tray is passed over the counter.
Thankfully everyone uses headphones or earbuds otherwise the noise would be unbearable...

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil...
