The Elephants of Udawalawe National Park

Long lens shot of a mother elephant - baby is just visible to the right hand side.
Elephants are very protective of their young - there's usually one or two other "aunties" present to watch over the young or to block the road if there's a vehicle or some other perceived danger coming in their direction.

Same group with a good view of the young elephant.

Lone elephant at a waterhole spraying water and mud over its back and sides as a form of protection from the intense sun in the park.
The young elephant in the short video was standing alone by the track, scuffing tufts of grass out of the dirt and munching on them - oblivious to our presence.
